Founded in 1955, the school is located on Jl. Bhakti IV / 1 The Kemanggisan Tax Complex is a favorite school in Medan because of its strategic location and resources. With an area of more than 10 thousand square meters and complete laboratory, sports and other supporting advice, it is the center of teacher activities (PKG) for science subjects.

For the first time Indonesia sent a delegation at the 1993 International Physics Olympiad, representing students from the Cinta Budaya School.
